Connacht Boys Open this week at Carne   02/04/2018

The field for the  Connacht Boys Open which will be held at Carne this week from Wednesday to Friday will include the best one hundred and twenty underage (under 18)  golfers in the country, ranging in handicaps from 5.2  to  + 2.

Following three days of high quality golf on three very testing days it was sixteen year old Luke O'Neill from Connemara Golf Club who prevailed by  eight strokes with rounds of 75,70 and 76. Luke is son of IPGA professional at Connemara Hugh O'Neill and is pictured here, receiving  the winning trophy from another Galwegian  Jimmy Duggan Hon Sec of the GUI Connacht Branch.

This is a great opportunity to show off the Links to a whole new generation of young golfers ,some who may well become another' Rory' or 'Jordan'

Practice round is on Tuesday with the event itself starting on Wednesday.

There will be a klaxon start from all tees at 8 am and again at 1 pm on Wednesday and Thursday to accommodate all 120 golfers with the best forty five qualifiers playing again on Friday.

The course is in great condition at the moment and will no doubt produce a great champion.

We would like to get the players through the course on schedule  on Wednesday and Thursday and to help in this we could do with a few volunteers to help with ballspotting for a couple of hours each day.

If you are available to help out please phone the Junior Convenor Peter on 0830466322.
