Charity Event ...update   14/09/2017

Next Saturday September 16th will see a charity event held in Carne, proceeds of which will go to the Mayo Roscommon Hospice and the Local Palliative Care organisation.

This event is being organised by family members of the late Chris Duggan who was a member of Belmullet Golf Club for many years and who sadly succumbed to cancer in 2015.

There will be a party of thirty two golfers travelling for the event from Glasgow playing on Friday.

On Saturday it is hoped that twenty of those thirty two will take on twenty of our members in fourball betterball pairings  which will add some local participation to the event. Exact details of the format will be known later.....  the player with the best score on the day will win a Cup very kindly sponsored by Padraic Conroy of McDonnell's Bar and there will be a number of prizes for the top two or so pairings on the day..

There is now no entry fee for this competition but a donation box will be in the Golf Shop and anyone wishing to donate before play can do so

Both Ladies,Gents and Juniors are welcome to play.

A three course meal at a cost of €20 will be available in the Clubhouse after the golf.

Later on that night there will be a raffle and an auction  of all kinds of golfing and non golfing prizes in McDonnells Bar.

On the eve of  the All Ireland final and if you're not travelling to it, please support this deserving cause.

Postscript  :  To date and when all the funds raised at the auction are in ,  the current sum raised is a fantastic  €12,782.

Congrats to all involved especially Chris' daughter Christina who did a great job on the day.

Well done to John Hanley who had the best score, a  level par 72 on the day and whose name is the first to be engraved on this new Memorial Cup.
